[Event] Youth for climate change

Da Nang – Sept. 27, 2019, a workshop themed Youth Action for Climate took place at Hall B, University of Da Nang. This workshop is the cooperation among the European Union (EU) Delegation, Climate Change Working Group (CCWG), and University of Da Nang.

There were 250 participants from several organizations working in climate change in Vietnam and 200 students from universities, high schools and international schools in Da Nang city.

Mr. Koen Duchateau – Head of Cooperation Section of the European Union Delegation mentioned that the awareness of young generation about climate change is raising quickly, which could be recognized conspicuously by the rapid development of the young generation’ climate movement around the world. With the aim of promoting a learning dialogue and building support for a low-carbon emission country and improving the climate change adaption ability to young generation, EU and partners has decided to organize this workshop in Da Nang city.

The workshop has brought a friendly sharing and listening atmosphere to the young people in applying high technology, innovation and inspiration of low-carbon emission in daily life’ habits.

The presentations:

6 presentations from University of Da Nang, GIZ, CAB, WWF, Live & Learn, and Lux-Development.

The youth, representative of local government, Non-Government Organizations expressed and shared their ideas at the workshop.

During the workshop, a variety of small actions for emissions reduction was pinned on “Thinking trees”, that made “Thinking trees” turn to green.

The “Thinking trees” are turned in green by the youth actions, ideas.

Changing daily habits to prevent greenhouse gas emissions is not easy but organizers believe that the messages, ideas, and the youth’s awareness is a motivation for social change in environment issues.
