On October 31, 2024, as part of the project “Developing and Implementing a Participatory Roadmap to Reduce Single-Use Plastic in Schools in Son Tra District, Da Nang,” the Center for Adaptive Capacity Building Research (CAB), in collaboration with the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations (DUSTA), organized a kick-off workshop at the Son Tra High School auditorium, attended by nearly 60 participants.
The project aims to enhance the teaching capacity and practices of teachers and students in reducing single-use plastics (SUP) at four participating schools: Vanh Khuyen Kindergarten, Quang Trung Primary School, Nguyen Chi Thanh Secondary School, and Son Tra High School. Representatives from the city and district Departments of Education and Training, Departments of Natural Resources and Environment, the Son Tra People’s Committee, as well as organizations such as WWF, BUS, Evergreen Labs, World Vision International, the project sponsor Pacific Environment (PE), and members of the media were also present at the workshop.
Following a welcoming speech by Mr. Bui Minh Quang, Principal of Son Tra High School, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc, Vice President of DUSTA, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the project’s role in supporting the “Da Nang – Environmental City” initiative. Next, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Nga, Deputy Director of CAB, presented the project’s objectives, initial survey results, and the project plan.
